I thought I would share some of my favorite fonts, and perhaps what I’ve learned about fonts along the way here once a week. I have a strong affinity for fancy scripts with lots of opentype features, so if these posts seem partial to those, I make no apologies!

This week I want to discuss a brand new favorite! I’ve yet to use it in a project, but the right idea will come along and she will be put to use.

Meet: Melany Lane

Melany Lane is a whimsical hand drawn font from Yellow Design Studio. They were having a great sale for both weights of Melany Lane, as well as ornaments and seamless patterns for a low price! So I of course took advantage. I love opentype fonts and the ability to make each word your own by playing with alternate features.

I plan to put Miss Melany Lane to work very soon!

*wiping drool*

but it inspired me to create a set of confetti inspired invitations! Here is an example of one my “Funfetti” invitations, that you can find in my Etsy Shop!

I also offer custom add-ons to go along with the invitations in my shop! Check out the cupcake toppers and thank you tags I created to go along with this invitation.

This one is really fun to me! I personally love the colors (and I also offer a few different choices in colors) and think it’s a great invitation for a sweet celebration for a little girl but works just as great for an older birthday celebration, or maybe a shower invitation!

I don’t have any trouble (well, not usually) coming up with new concepts for clients or new ideas to put together for the shop (I might not, however, always have time to execute those ideas! But that’s another story) and I’m usually satisfied and happy with satisfied clients. So, I don’t know why I can’t channel that same energy and creativity for myself.

But, here we are today. Finally opening up this particular site (one of my many that I have to get underway) and I am content with it, as is, for now. I do see things changing in the future, but I really needed to get a design up and start getting my posts up. Now that this hurdle has been jumped, I can start focusing on my real plan to re-brand and get things moving.
